/bitchen welcomes to the stage...

elijah

/bitchen regulars with above average reading comprehension will recognize the above name. Elijah is an uber talented producer/dj/remixer/graphic artist hailing from Brooklyn, but who I've known since high school back in the G-Rap (Grand Rapids, MI). He's going to be sharing with us his vast knowldege across all horizons of electronica, as well as allowing /bitchen to be home to all his new tracks and remixes.

And on to the tracks...

A few more from the Moulinex & Xinobi collaboration that is defined as D.I.S.C.O.Texas. OMG you might say to see one of Elijah's own remixes on the bill.

A couple remixes that may or may not be related to the original "Survivor" from Italian producer Fare Soldi. I love the sense of happiness that the original brings, and the two remixes both have their own electro-fied personalities.

Dirty Disco Youth comes back with another 'name' remix. You cant blame the up-and-comers for pairing their name next to the proven ones, especially when the results are as solid as this.

Loyal Divide - Labrador EP

loyal_divide

Psychedelica might be the new posh thing to emerge in 2009. Only reason why I say that is because of the mass amount of hype surrounding Animal Collective, and the recent 9.6 rating they got on Pitchfork (nobody has scored that high since The Arcade Fire back in 2004). And when a band creates sounds comparable post OK Computer Radiohead, Sebastian Tellier, and Explosions in the Sky sans 20 minute track lengths... you have a good thing going.

Chicago outfit Loyal Divide do just that, and they're playing a gig at Subterranean in Wicker Park to help promote their new Labrador EP. The show is Wednesday the 14th with a 9pm kickoff. They were recently featured on RCRD LBL (so you know they're good), and I'll be sharing their title track with you today.
01 Young Blades
02 Labrador
03 Lover I Can Tell You
04 Vision Vision
Help out some local flavor by buying their album [here] and seeing their show at SubT. Very much looking forward to witnessing these guys make all this noise live on stage. It will be mesmerizing to say the least.

BONUS:

Just wanted to throw out a few inbox tracks now that I have your attention...first a new release from Tantrum Recordings, this week featuring a new fan favorite Crimewave remix. Also something new I've been sitting on from Saint Pauli.

bestuvoate: B52s + Saint Pauli

best_saint

That's right... the B-mutha-flippin-52's. Who knew the band was even still together making songs that weren't named Love Shack? When I first got this remix it wasn't until a month later that I noticed it was of their NEW single. Maybe the B52's are a bit more relevant in Europe? Either way, Saint Pauli noticed, and we're all reaping the benefits.

The German duo have shipped us a steady stream of unique remixes this year. Unique meaning nothing that anyone living in blog-world would consider high profile (ie Digitalism, MSTRKRFT, etc), but excellent productions in their own right. Saint Pauli's sound features a very stadium-like euro fullness. This remix stands out with high end arpeggio's and sweeping filtered

Getcher Black Wednesday On

Its turkey week y'alls. What that means besides a tryptophan trip (which I recently found out is bogus) is Black Wednesday, Turkey Bowl Thursday, and an extended holiday weekend. Ahh that last one would only pertain to those with normal jobs. While I'll be working thru the holiday, I hope you all have a sweet ass time with your family and loved ones this holiday... travel safe... and listen to some sweet ass tunes during it all.

Get things started off the right way with some German electronica. Saint Pauli just sent me this today and if you look past the creepy Rammsteinian vocals, you find the familiar stadium hall epicness that is standard from Saint Pauli tracks. Also my new favorite FutureFlashs remix, this time of a Swedish act Stay Ali. The song's instrumental buildup is uber pleasant... sounding like a future disco'd-up Breakbot. But again with the awkward vocals... maybe he'll do a dub mix as well.

Gejius is a Portland, OR producer that thought it'd be a good idea to test his skills on the same Mariah Carey track that I posted of DD in last week's post. The nerve of that guy amiright? To send a legitimately excellent remix and thinking that I'd want to listen to it and maybe post it for others. Garbage thinking I tell you.

It's not every day when you get the original artist/producer of a song plugging someone else's remix. Can you really blame Alexander Technique & Van Scott in the case when it was Chewy Chocolate Cookies that did the remix? In the underground international house world, Alexander Technique probably doesn't need much intro, but in the electro blog-house community, he might. So smart move by featured artist Van Scott to get this track out and about for the world to see (and hear).

Do you like the artwork on this post? I love the amalgam of old school 8bit characters blended in contemporary settings (likewise with 8bit sounds in music). Segway to Mr Vega, of whom I've posted a few times before... but now he's self releasing his first EP. You can get it free from his myspace, but here's my favorite selection on top of another bonus remix he did for Passion Pit.

Finally, I wanted to give you a sneak into my next post which will feature a slew of Binary artists. Binary of course being the core of talent in the greater LA-land area. They're testing the old gold coast Aussie theorem, being a cannibalistic nature of everyone remixing each other. And the results are what you'd expect. Fire. Here's a more chill remix of a personal favorite from Keenhouse.

St Pauli und Egotronic

stpauli

I've been sitting on this track for a while... because I'm retarded. Just caught me at a bad time where I haven't a lot of time to sort thru all the inbox material. Apologies out to St Pauli who effin molested an already kick ass german techno track from Egotronic. I saw on their myspace that they justed added this to their player, which picks up the song at the 1:07 mark. So feel special that you have access to the full mastered un-radio-edit version.

BONUS: I decided to throw in their B52's remix as well (that's right, the B52's). You'll hear the same familar sound from the Egotronic mix, which works on dancefloors and tv couches alike.
