What more needs to be said about Justice? Nothing. They've done everything, toured everywhere, and is loved by everyone. And unless you've read this blog regularly this year, you probably missed this remix thru the blogging floorboards. Menowah killed it.
The locals from Chicago rearranged the necessities into an entirely new track. It has the same overcompressed french electro sound that Justice and the Ed Banger label made famous. But Menowah created an entirely new monster with this track. It's heavy, crunchy and thick... wouldn't know I was talking about a song unless you were listening to the track this moment would ya?
Sweat It Out! Volume 1 is the first iteration mixtape album from the label of the same name. Being mixed by probably two of the biggest DJ/producers in the land down under, Ajax and Miami Horror, will obviously be a bangin' album for the summertime featuring tracks from the likes of Crookers, Boys Noize, Danger, Armand Van Helden, and the like.
So why bring this up? Well if you remember not too long ago, I made a few posts about local Chicago electro duo Menowah, who of which were involved in a series of rumors concerning a Miami Horror collaboration. After denying all rumors, and rumors aside, it appears our friends from Chitown got one of their killer tracks, "Our Adventure" on the mixtape!
That's great press for a local act that has produced some solid tracks, and dropped a few highly regarded remixes as well. Check out "Our Adventure" below, and we'll keep you posted on developments with Menowah's new album and remix album.
I posted a little while ago about Menowah and their absolutely bangin' Genesis remix. The track is one of the better Justice remixes I've heard, and that's saying something seeing how Cross was easily the heaviest remixed album of the last year plus. Give the song a listen if you haven't already.
Menowah is a Chicago DJ duo consisting of cophandz and jyoung. The two fellas met fittingly enough at an Alexander Robotnick show, and have been gracing us with some bangin' tunes ever since.
I asked them about the impending galactic shift in the universe when not one, but two new albums rise from the horizon:
"The album has been going on a year now, and it will be available for free when its complete as well as the remix album. The remix album is a collection of djs/producers whom menowah is fond of and were nice enough to grace us with their talent."
If you've visited their space and like what you hear, then you should be pleased with the new material (woot!). Expect more stuff like the ELO [Sweet Talking Girls] remix (double woots!).
And along the same lines as remixing ELO, I inquired what they see/wish-to see in the near future in regards to the electronic music scene:
"I myself really wanna see or hear more classic rock songs being brought into electro and house... there's a lot of potential there."
Major thanks to Menowah for the new content, and I'll be sure to keep you all updated when new material drops. Expect some great things to come in the near future, but to calm your urges for now, here's something off the impending new album as well as a few other goodies.
Also informed that menowah will be playing as well, which if I did my math correctly, should mean that jyoung will be up together with cophandz (omniwoot).
Plenty of reasons there to party, so definitely hit this up if you're worth a shit.
Our friends at Beats presents: Hot Biscuits just made a post with a brilliant title... "DUNNNNNNNN!!!". Give it a sec, let it sink in... that's right, that could only mean one thing: GENESIS!!! I know I just posted a set of remixes from Justice's album-of-the-year a few days ago, but that was before I read their post and found out about an apparant local Chitown guy who goes by me.no.wah.
