Lollapalooza Lineup Announced!

rage_lolla

Chicago's 'biggest' outdoor music festival of the year (i say that in pure size only, not necessarily in anticipation) has finally announced their lineup. Three days and nights of rock, folk, indie, hip hop and electro. And well... I'd have to say its a bit underwhelming.

At least underwhelming in regards to the closing acts. No Daft Punk, no Radiohead, no Rage... just The Killers (tic). Seriously not into listening to Depeche Mode promote their new album, never liked Tool, the Killers are sell outs, Jane's Addiction hasn't been relevant in 15 years, Kings of Leon frickin played a 4pm set two years ago and are now headlining? No thanks... Beastie Boys are the only interesting ones.

But to be honest, it's never the headliners that make this festival successful. It's the day acts that makes the cost of your ticket worthwhile. And there are PLENTY of good ones this year. Out and about spread thru the three days are dozens of rock/folk/indie staples in many of your playlists. Arctic Monkeys, Crystal Castles, Fleet Foxes, Friendly Fires, Hey Champ, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend, Animal Collective, etc.

But then there's the ever growing and ever more popular Perry's Tent (for this blogs' readers). Here you'll find some of electronica's biggest names and acts: MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Deadmau5, Boys Noize, Crookers, A-Trak, Bloody Beetroots, LA Riots, and a dozen more. I'll be spending most of my time here as its like our own Ultra Festival w/o the $500 plane ticket during spring break season.
