/bitchen loves us some Oliver, and luckily we also loves us some A-Trak. Been a while since we gave the decorated DJ some love here on the site (but lets be honest here, it's been a while since we've given anyone much love).
The song is off the A-Trak's Tuna Melt EP (Fool's Gold, 2012) which features all of the glitchy electroness that A-Trak has become known for. But Disco Nap took my attention as the best performer on the EP due to it's 'dark synth' disco subtheme, and absolutely killer drop.

I missed the bus with a proper countdown of our top tracks and remixes of this year... so instead I'll drop to you all my favorite 'hearted' tracks from hypem this year. Since there's no denying the power of hype machine in moving tracks into (and out of) the popular scene... its normally a good indicator of influential tracks. Especially those that have tickled my fancy for so many hours this year (especially while bored at work).

I'm pretty sure I've yet to cover The American Dream Team (TADT). I'm seen them on every other blog and their cousins... but I've never had the pleasure of getting anything direct from them to post. The band that started in Brooklyn, and has taken the hip-hop/electro fusion to the next level by introducing turntablism and the type of visual stimulation that only specialist niche genres are used to (us blog house bitches dont get this kind of treatment right?) Chitown vs Worst Time Zone Ever
The Cubs are tanking, and getting absolutely murdered by the Dodgers. That been putting a lot of stress on not only me, but the whole effin' city. Fans are up in arms, the players failed to show up, the curse might actually excist... I mean total anarchy!!
So what do we do? Go win 2 in LA and then come back to win game 5? It's happened before, but its not likely. I think the best way to resolve this is for everyone to just caaaaaaaaalm down. The city, fans, and media have put waay too much pressure on the Cubs, and it's not gonna work by forcing these last 100 years on the team. Just let it go, embrace the game, and let the chips fall where they may.
So here are a group of tracks from collected Chicago and LA based artists/DJs/producers. If these tracks do nothing more than distract you from the embarassing team that has taken the field the last two nights, then cherish it. Anything is better than the last two ball games.

Our favorite party promoters Dark Wave Disco are bringing one of the best DJ's in the world to keep the hipster crowd happy at the beer friendly confines of Sonotheque. Be sure to RSVP for free admission before it's too late. As always, Trancid, Mark Gertz, and Kid Color will be warming things up before A-Trak takes the tables over.
