After an incredible run in the US (3 shows in Chicago!), everyone's favorite Italo Disco duo, The Bloody Beetroots. are headed for a much needed shindig thru Europe, most notably their first ever stop together in London.
Kate Hutchinson recently did an interview for the electro blog Fried My Little Brain with the Beetroots, covering topics ranging from thoughts on the impending London show, opinions on their own brand of music, other industry giants, and comparisons with a certain French duo in masks.

I'm not saying that Chitown is the Mecca of electro, or the end-all of stops for dj sets in this country... but one of my friends who currently resides in Brooklyn recently suggested that I move out there if I wanna get the chance to see all the bands and artists that 'just drop in'.
Well I've been meaning to post some of these reviews of recent artists that happened to 'just drop in' to our unknown town of Chicago. So this looks to be as good an excuse as any to finally update you all with them.
The month of March started off with a bang when MSTRKRFT and The Bloody Beetroots made a pass thru 'Chicago's World Class Mega Club' (tic). [prior review] needless to say, kicked my ass.

Those damn Canadians did it again and showed us lame Americans that there's more to good dance and electronica music than what MTV and Top100 radio forces us down our listening throats at the clubs each weekend (regardless of the preconceived notions of the venue at Vision).
The ridiculously cold night (in March) warmed up quickly once we stepped inside, which was just as Bloody Beetroots and their signature Venom masks started quite the unexpected and exhilarating set. To be honest, I had never heard of them prior, and actually thought they might've been MSTRKRFT in their hockey masks at first. But regardless, they laid down some great tracks, and definitely got the entire room of 1200+ pumped for more. Unfortunately their set didn't feature a lot of lights, so my camera wasn't able to get many great shots. My apologies for the shottiness.
Then came the headliners, MSTRKRFT, who held true to their billing in giving electric performances. I was only semi-disappointed that they didn't come out with their own signature masks of the Jason Voorhees variety. However there were plenty of those in crowd to make up for it (props to those who came prepared). Keynotes of their set were obviously a pair of their singles "Street Justice" and "Easy Love". Also one of my personal faves "Paris" was in the mix (if my half-inebriated mind remembered correctly). And of course there were remixes, including their edits of Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." and Kylie Minogue's "Wow".
Overall I was truly impressed, not only with the intensity and scope of their show, but with the overall atmosphere the bands brought with them. Everyone there was truly excited to be there, which is either a testament to MSTRKRFT themselves, or this electro music revival in general. A lack of pompous arrogance that is normally inhabited at the clubs was a breath of fresh air.
