Late of the Pier + Soulwax [vids]

Late Of The Pier 'Best In The Class' (Soulwax... by PayeTaChatte

Still have never seen any iteration of Soulwax perform their thing live... which is sadly leaving a large gaping abyss in my heart.

So THAT'S What I've Been Missing...

There's a first time for everything, and I had my virgin Justice cherry popped on Wednesday. I've missed seeing them 3 times by my count, and holy hell what a show. Even though it was just a DJ set, they played plenty of their own tracks on top of other industry favorites (props for gettin' some Chem Bros in there). Here's a few pics I took from the show and a few tracks that have found their way to my inbox. Enjoy bitches!

A couple new things via LA outfit LAZRtag. First are the results of when Vinh and Erik submitted a rework of MJ's "Smooth Criminal" to Buffetlibre's new remix project. And the next being yet another rendition of "Taken Away" by Digitalism. You haven't heard too many of those yet have you? Good.

Pretty pumped that Cold Blank added me to their email list. Another duo from LA dropped this piece of fidgetty goodness, and quite simply it's effin' fire. So there.

bestuvoate: MGMT + Soulwax

You might be asking yourself... really? This guy really has the balls to post up another Soulwax remix of MGMT? This damn track has been on hypem's popular charts for months since it surfaced in September. So why even bother posting it? Cos it's an effin' awesome remix and this list is all about the best of the best. So sit down and shut up you big bald f*ck!

MGMT - Kids (Soulwax Remix) | download

No more needs to be said about MGMT (other than the rumor I heard earlier about collab-ing with The Chemical Brothers turned out to be bogus). But plenty could be said about Soulwax. You all saw their documentary Part of the Weekend Never Dies right? If not, then stop reading this and go watch it. Come back when you're schooled.

The brothers Dewaele from Belgium have been making music for well over a decade under different names, but arguably their most influential and popular works have come under the title Soulwax. They have done official and unofficial Radio Soulwax releases under the guise 2 Many DJ's. They host Nite Versions events that bring with them many of the biggest names in the business. Yea... the dudes know wtf they're doing. Respek.

Electro All-Stars: Vier

That's four you idiots, learn some culture. Its time once again for soquitcherbitchen's pseudo-monthly collection of electro that's either too old to post as new, too good to miss, or simply too good to have actually been submitted to me. Whichever way you feel like seeing it, all these tracks are hotter than sex.

Mp3: Walter Meego - Forever (Van She Tech Remix) (right-click to save) [start things off with some chitown love, the seemingly ELO inspired wisdoms of Walter Meego are fittingly electro-fied by Van She Technologic. Have you ever heard a bad Van She Tech rub? No is the correct answer, and Discodust agrees]

Mp3: Totally Michael - Winona (Miami Horror Remix) (right-click to save) [Totally Michael basically relives my adolescence from watching Beetlejuice and falling in love a young and innocent Winona Ryder. Beautious!]

Mp3: Justice - Planisphere (Mmmatthias Remix) (right-click to save) [I guess I could've just posted the original Planisphere, but I'd rather post the one that sounds good (oh shut up flamers... the original mixes are all effin awesome, but I've always liked everything that Mmmatthias touches, so I gave him the nod here)]

Alternative content

Mp3: OH SNAP!! - I'm Too Fat To Be A Hipster (right-click to save) [maybe one of the best songs ever created. Ever. I'm not overweight by any streatch of the imagination, but it's the overall message that makes this song unique... you perpetrain' posers better re-cog-nize. haha, and i love the self-made echo fade effect]
