If you've been absent from the hypem charts the last couple days, then you'll have missed the Midnight Conspiracy Remix of Chromeo's "Night By Night" [here]. Well the kids with the golden eyeball are hosting a new monthly party titled Delorean Nites (i know, suiting).
The new Dance-party-du-jour is sure to make it's mark early bringing in rave faves Designer Drugs. Along side DD (NYC) are a group of Chicago faves; Midnight Conspiracy, Skylar, Custom Vibes and Punky Fresh.
It's sure to be quite the gig, and to help you poor 18+ year olds out, we're giving away two sets of tix. Just email us your name and your favorite LOST character to dasMetzger@gmail.com and we'll pick out the winners (at random). Details->

bestuvoate: Fake Shark Real Zombie + Designer Drugs
I dont know hardly anything about Fake Shark-Real Zombie other than they're from Vancouver, BC and one of the tracks off their debut album this year was so aptly named "Designer Drugs". So fitting that New York's Designer Drugs were then approached to bang out a remix. Even more fitting that it lands on #5 for this year's top remixes.
Fake Shark-Real Zombie! - Designer Drugs (Designer Drugs Remix) | download
Maybe its more of a personal choice than anything worthy of technical/industry praise. The remix is a continual ascension of wet-synth buildup, creating a never-ending bounce party for kids on the hardwood. But the track is so addicting, and Designer Drugs has been so consistent in their remix work this year, I felt obligated to give them the props they deserve.

Do Something This Weekend...
Bitches... there are waaaay too many good shows this weekend. Tonight you have Flossy playing at Sonotheque, Designer effin' Drugs at Congress Theater, and Zebo at the Evil Olive, etc. Then tomorrow Sinden comes to Sonotheque thanks to Dark Wave, and then Potty Mouth resident Bushido hits Smartbar alongside Bald Eagle.
All that and I didn't even mention a little UK electropop band known to the public as Hot Chip. Yea they're playing two shows at the Metro and then doing a DJ set in the catacombs underneath at Smartbar on Sunday (link to a shit load of remixes at The Lemur Blog).
So there you go... nobody should have any excuse to not get out and see some good effin electro. NO EXCUSES PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION!

Hail to the Social
photos courtesy of g.originals
After browsing thru past posts in my blog, I began to notice something... that is I spend a lot of my time posting tracks that I receive from new bands and artists thru my inbox. And believe you me, I'm grateful for that and hope that that provides them positive exposure... but I sometimes feel that I can stray away from why I started this blog in the first place: to spread some of my favorite songs out for the world to hear.
Hell, there are even some tracks that I receive that become some of my all-time favorites. But there's just so much material out there, that you can't possibly limit yourself or your blog to just the inbox. Sometimes you have to go out an post other discoveries, whether they're new or old, and just enjoy the music for what it is.
Which brings me to Hail Social an indie/electronica band from the Philadelphia-- *gasp* --I know, I too thought that type of music was reserved for the Aussies... but HS have done a sturdy job at providing fodder for the likes for remix artists the world over, with stellar results. Here's a bunch that tickle my fancy at least.

Mp3: Hail Social - No Paradise (Hot Pink Delorean Remix)
When your tracks are already fused with 70's disco and an 80's beat, you're bound to attract the attention of 'future disco' professionals. That's what subgenre specialists Hot Pink Delorean, Designer Drugs, and Anoraak saw and heard in Hail Social, and did superb renditions that keep the spirit of the originals, but giving them that stylized retro makeover.

TheHype.FM + Designer Drugs
Let me see if I can retrace my steps. I was perusing the blogosphere as usual, looking for god knows what (gingerbread recipes and historical records for India gold medals in the Olympics).
Ahh I remember now, I was looking for new Designer Drugs tracks on elbows, when Jacuzzi Killers caught my eye with a most unbashful title "TheHype.FM Launches Today!!"... and I'm thinking, righto righto, click. Turns out this fledgling site is a radio festivus for the restuvus. Lava-esque tracks are played continuously 24 hours a day via email requests and preprogrammed sets. Blogging giants such as Discodust, Electrorash, and Chicago's own Red Threat all contribute to the site's musical prowess. Like I said it's brand new so there are both kinks and hope that it will get better. [link]
And back to my trek for Designer Drugs, a set of remixes. One new, one from the previos aforementioned hype.fm playlist, and one ace track that I haven't stopped listening to for months (and yes, that is Designer Drugs remixing a track named Designer Drugs... just kinda fits).
